Ravens Nest 13 prides itself that the monies raised for charity are used on projects that help neighbors in need. None of the Officers, Board of Directors, or members receive salary or wages for their service. Unfortunately, to raise money, Nest 13 must spend money.
In 2008, when it became clear that America was in a recession, Nest 13 decided to take the unorthodox approach and increased the number of families they’d support, instead of cutting back, as other charities chose to do. For the 2008-2009 school year, Nest 13 adopted 61 back to school children and twenty-five families, including forty-five children, for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
To continue our efforts for the 2009-2010 school year, Nest 13 sought assistance from entrepreneurs to help defer the cost of raising money to fund our charity projects. With the support of the businesses below, Nest 13 was able to lower the cost of admission to the annual Blues and BBQ fundraiser and to offer a 4 day cruise as a door prize. Simply put, without the support of these businesses, we would not have been able to support our neighbors in the same manner this year.

Birds of Prey: Ravens Nest No. 13 of Columbia, Maryland Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization whose primary purpose is to provide aid and assistance to those less fortunate in Howard County and Maryland. Ravens Nest 13 is an officially chartered chapter of the Birds of Prey: Chamber of Ravens Nest. We meet at Nottingham's Tavern for our monthly meetings and Away games. History
In 2004, patrons of Michael’s Pub created a non-profit organization known as Birds of Prey: Ravens Nest No. 13 of Columbia, Maryland Inc. Since inception, Nest 13 has funded over $27,000 of projects for their neighbors in need. Nest 13 has been dedicated in supporting the Salvation Army, Domestic Violence Center, Kernans Hospital, Kennedy Kreiger, Hopkins Pediatric ICU and St. Agnes Hospital. Every year, Nest 13 has made sure there are toys under the Christmas tree, the book bags are full for children to return to school, and families have dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Nest 13 also gave a family a final vacation with a family member who later succumbed to cancer, and paid for part of the funeral expenses of another fellow Howard County resident. Each year, Nest 13 continues to fulfill its motto of "Neighbors helping Neighbors."

Contributions
Ravens Nest 13 raises monies to support charities, hospitals, and local organizations by conducting raffles and accepting donations from private and corporate donors. After administrative expenses, monies raised from raffles that are designated for charties and donations are used to suppor the charitable events and donations of Ravens Nest 13.
